The province has a total of 199 barangays.
A total of 106 barangays in South Cotabato are now cleared from drugs, this according to the Philippine National Police.
PSupt. Joedelito Guisinga of South Cotabato Provincial Police Office (SCPPO) confirmed the number of drug-cleared barangays in the province during a press conference held at SCCPO just recently.
Guisinga said the result was a collaborative effort together with the Barangay Anti Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) of every barangay, municipal LGUs and the PNP.
The declaration of drug cleared barangays is in consonance to the Dangerous Drugs Board requirements and parameters on conducting Barangay Drug Clearing Operations, he added.
Prior from declaring a barangay as drug cleared, BADAC will conduct drug clearing operations in their respective areas of responsibilities which will be followed by inspections by police officers.
A certification from the Chiefs of Police attested by the chairman of the barangay and municipal ADAC and the resolution declaring the barangay as drug cleared are enough validation reports for accounting.
All reports are also subjected to further ocular inspection by the Regional Oversight Committee.
An “honest to goodness” clearing operation is being implemented in the province, said Guisinga in consonance with the directive of South Cotabato PNP Provincial Director PSSupt. Franklin Alvero.
