As part of the 23rd Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival, the Davao Regional Tourism Council in cooperation with the Department of Tourism Region XI hosted the biggest tourism assembly in Mindanao, the 4th Mindanao Travel and Tourism Expo (MTTE), held last August 20-22, 2009 at the Davao Convention Center in Davao City.
MTTE primarily featured exhibits and tour packages of various adventure and scenic destinations of Mindanao. Activities included the Mindanao Tourism and Transport Summit, Mindanao Interactive Adventure Showcase, Mindanao Wellness and Hospitality Summit, TESDA Regional Congress, Mindanao Tourism Investment Summit and the unveiling of the Mindanao Tourism Highway Map.
The expo ended with cultural performances and the best booth award which was given to the province of South Cotabato. The South Cotabato booth showcased the province’s T’nalak festival, tourism destinations, tour packages and its cultural heritage.
The Kadayawan Festival was also highlighted the street dancing competition which was competed in by 38 contingents from all over Mindanao. The grand champion was awarded to Purok Sison Elementary School of the municipality of Surallah and the
municipality of Tampakan represented by Tampakan National High School belonged to the top 5 finalist, both from the province of South Cotabato.
In line with Kadayawan sa Davao culminating activity is the Moda Mindanaw Fashion Design competition which was competed by the 12 designers from Davao Region and it’s neighboring provinces. Our very own Ivan Raborar bagged the Best Design for Women’s Wearable Casual and 2nd-runner up for the Women’s Wearable Formal and Men’s Wearable Casual.
Known as the festival of festivals, Kadayawan is an annual celebration of Davao City which is open to everyone both tourists and locals who want to experience the celebration.
