MUNICIPALITY OF TANTANGAN Date of Creation: January 27, 1961 under R.A. No. 5561 BRIEF PROFILE Tantangan existed as a municipality in 1961 and lies at the northern tip of South Cotabato which is 16 kilometers from Koronadal and 14 kilometers from Tacurong City. Tantangan is noted for its clay (white clay) which is suited for ceramic products, brick making, pottery, artworks and clay blocks for construction materials. It has high potential for rice and fruit trees production, for agro- forestry, for residential development and strawboard production. With favorable conditions and the able leadership of the past and present leaders, Tantangan is fast growing with its role as the cereal (grain) producer of the province of South Cotabato. It has a total land area that is permanently cultivated and planted with various crops. Seaconal crops produced are rice, corn and vegetables comprising 93.38% of the total area cultivated; while permanent crops are coconut, banana, coffee and mango contributing 6.62% of the total area cultivated.
